Do you ever find yourself needing another output to drive a 24 volt lock or some other control device needing a higher voltage than your 12v power system with 12 volt battery?  How about a 48V or 57V output to provide (POE) power over the Ethernet?

The DC12XX40 is a DC to DC boost converter that converts a nominal 12vdc input to a preset regulated DC output (xx) from 18vdc to 57vdc with 40 watts of power.  The input can actually be from 10vdc up to the output voltage.

This converter is very useful when a continuous regulated voltage between 18vdc and 57vdc is needed.  This allows 2 output voltages from 1 battery source.  The input range can be as low a 9vdc and as high as the output voltage. 

The voltage range of a 12v lead acid battery can be as broad as 9.5vdc to 16vdc.  This wide range of voltage on the input provides a well regulated output voltage of ordered value between 18 and 48 volts DC.

A 24vdc output at 1.5 Amps (36W) will require a little more than 3 Amps of 12vdc on the input (39W).
